Many gamers have asked for a complete season for Time Travel, and I've been
hesitant due to the cost of a season set. My philosophy with Downey Games has
always been to offer games at the lowest possible cost to the gamer. So,
consider this set a trial balloon of sorts. If the set does well, we'll produce
more season sets. If not, we'll make the appropriate adjustments.
Why the 1926 season?
Well, firstly, it's a 16-team season, which allows me to keep the costs lower.
Secondly, 1926 was a great year in terms of the pennant races. In the AL, 5
teams finished within 9.5 games of each other. And a sixth team, Detroit only
finished 12 games back. In the NL it was a 3 team race, with St. Louis,
Cincinnati and Pittsburgh all finishing within 7 games of each other.
Thirdly, 1926 also had a great mixture of future Hall-of-Famers, stars and
average players. And for many teams, those "average" players made a big impact
on the pennant races. And it's my firm belief that Time Travel Baseball really
captures the essence of those players and their value to the team. So, I thought
this was the best season to offer initially.
And finally, seasons from the 1920's are rather unique, as they often times
aren't the focus for many baseball games.
The 1926 season will feature every player to make a significant contribution
during the season. So, you won't lack for players on your roster, and aren't
limited to 20 players per team. Each team will also have a ball-park card
representing actual ballpark factors for 1926. As with our other Time Travel
Offerings, each player flash*card is printed in full color on die-cut cards.
